Privacy policy

In short: ScanText does not collect, store on its own servers or share any data about you. The photo and the recognized text stay only in your device's memory.

Effective: October 24, 2026 · App: ScanText (iPhone and iPad)

1. What the app does with your photo

When you tap the button to take a photo, the picture is kept only in the device's memory, the text is recognized and the image is discarded right after. The photo taken with the camera is not saved: not to your Photos, not to a file, not to the cloud. The app has no server, asks for no account and uses no ads, analytics or tracking.

2. Camera and gallery

3. Text recognition and reading aloud

4. The recognized text

The text appears on the result screen and exists only while it is open: the app keeps no history. When you tap Copy, the text goes to the system clipboard and becomes available to other apps, like any copied text. When you tap Share, you choose the destination in the system menu; the app hands the text to the app you chose, and the developer has no access to that transfer.

5. What is stored

Only one preference: the speed you chose for reading aloud, kept on the device itself. The device backup, made by Apple (iCloud or computer), follows Apple's policy.

6. What the app does not do

7. Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top will be updated.
